It's time for my final year of school, and we happen to be doing one of the most exciting projects I've done in a while. On this blog, I'll chronicle my every week of this ambitious project, which we've dubbed the "Keeping it Real Project". This project will dabble in Virtual Reality. I will now answer some prompts that we have been assigned. Here goes nothing.
Engineering: What skill(s) are you training for? What have you learned so far this week? What challenges and celebrations did you encounter? What are your goals for next week? Any surprises?
I was lucky enough to become a producer on this project. That means I get to lead the creation of one of the apps we are making for our project. The app I'm in charge of is a virtual tour of HTHI. It will be created by capturing many photos of different angles of the school to be converted into 3D models. I'm learning about resource, time, and money management. Planning how much I'm going to pay my specialist employees had been a difficult challenge for me, but I've got a pretty good handle on how much time I need to allot for each task. My goal for next week is to take experimental pictures of a small space to see how well it compiles in the 3D program. Gotta practice before we do the real thing!
English: How did our study of propaganda and doublespeak impact your thinking about reality? What questions did this study raise for you?
Our study of propaganda made me much more aware of the possible ways people can try to influence or change our decisions and beliefs. It's a little scary to think of all the possible mediums that can have this effect on us, even in a subconscious manner. A question I have from this study is are people who already have preconceived notions about things as easily affected by propaganda?
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Hey, look! It's me in the VR world!
