Investigations
This part of my digital portfolio will highlight some of the activities or investigations that we do in our math/physics class.
"Lights Out" Challenge
This was our first experiment with lightbulbs and circuits. We were given a battery, wires, and a lightbulb and we had to figure out how to light it up. Once we got it figured out, we went to the darkest room in the school to find out if we could see. This was practice for if a flashlight broke in a cave.
Barbie Bungee Lab
In this experiment, we picked out Barbie and Ken dolls to attach to rubber bands and create miniature bungees. We started with two rubber bands and we kept adding two until our doll touched the ground. We measured how far it fell to predict how many bands we should put on if we dropped it from HTMMA. Ours didn't win, but it didn't die either.
Marshmallow Challenge
This was the first experiment that we did in class. We were assigned to random groups (I didn't know anybody at the time) and tasked with building a tower with sticks and marshmallows. Whoever made the highest tower that didn't topple won. I learned about teamwork and engineering through this experiment, and to make things even better, my group won!
