Woohoo! Tomorrow is the first day of internship! What am I excited about, you ask? Well, the thing I'm most excited about is getting to handle those fluffy bunnies. I love animals, so getting to feed them and pet them is going to be a real treat! The thing I'm most worried about, however, is accidentally letting the rabbits lose. I'm pretty sure it won't happen, but I'm still a little on edge. Well, I hope I have a blast while I'm there!
Today I visited the San Diego House Rabbit Society to learn a bit about what it will be like to intern there. I interviewed one of my mentors, Jennifer, while I was there. I learned that the San Diego House Rabbit Society is a branch of a larger organization, the International House Rabbit Society.
The main goal of the organization is to support animal shelters, educate the public about rabbits, and provide shelter for those less fortunate bunnies. The SDHRS is volunteer run with 3 managers, a shelter manager, and many rabbit caretakers. To work there you need to be patient and have a love and understanding of animals. This sounds like my kinda place! When brainstorming for project ideas, I asked them about what projects they've done before. They hold a lot of fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money for rabbit care. One of the most important things they fundraise for is microchips. Those are little trackers that get put into animals to help identify who they belong to if they're ever lost. I thought it would be a good idea to try and help fundraise for those. Since I'm proficient with various computer programs, I decided I would help make flyers and videos to raise awareness. I've always enjoyed making advertisements, so this will be fun. I'm quite looking forward to interning at the SDHRS. I'll keep y'all updated! Welcome to my new blog. I'll be writing about my internship here. Chocks away!

David DeVolHi! I don't much care for blogs, but I'm gonna write about my internship experience here just so my achievements will be catalogued. ArchivesCategories |
